There are only three centres in Russia. For a tourist trip you do not need any of them: the visa is arranged online.
If you are looking for the Indian visa centre, you are probably planning to go there with your passport and a form. For a tourist trip you do not have to: the Indian visa has long been arranged online, and there is no reason to visit a centre.
Where these centres are
There are three in the whole of Russia: Moscow, St Petersburg and Vladivostok. If you live anywhere else, the nearest one is thousands of kilometres away, and the trip costs more than the visa itself.
What is arranged online
The tourist visa — the one people travel on to Goa, Kerala or around the Golden Triangle. It is electronic: the application is filed online, your passport goes nowhere, and the visa arrives by email. The same visa covers visits to friends and short business trips.

The other difference: the paperwork
The difference is not only the journey. When a visa is arranged through a consulate or a visa centre, the document pack is noticeably larger: usually proof of income, a bank statement, sometimes insurance and tickets. Collecting all that is a project in itself, and one missing paper means a second trip.
An electronic visa needs none of it. A scan of your passport page and a photograph are enough — everything else is filled in on the form.
When you really do need the centre
Some categories cannot be arranged electronically: work visas, student visas, long-term business visas, family reunion. Those require paperwork and a visit to a centre or consulate.
For everything else, a trip to the visa centre is a lost day and money spent for nothing.
What else you need besides the visa
Since 2026 two more documents have joined the visa: the electronic arrival card and the Air Suvidha 2.0 health form. Both are filed online within the last 72 hours before arrival, and without them you will not pass passport control.
