Why go to India: five different trips in one country
Goa's beaches, Rajasthan's palaces, the Himalayas, southern temples and Kerala's ayurveda — routes that barely overlap.
India does not fit into one trip. People who have been to Goa and people who have been to Ladakh describe different countries — and both are right. It is easier to choose not “India” but what you are going for.
Beaches: Goa
The most straightforward option for a first visit. North Goa is loud, with bars and markets; the south is quiet, with long empty beaches. It is easy to spend two weeks here planning nothing, and it is also a place to spend the winter: many come for several months.
Palaces and forts: Rajasthan
The Golden Triangle — Delhi, Agra, Jaipur — is for impressions rather than the sea. The Taj Mahal, pink Jaipur, the fortresses of Jodhpur and Udaipur. The route is dense: you see a lot in a week, but it is not a rest.
Mountains: the Himalayas
Ladakh, Spiti, Manali, Dharamsala. Monasteries on cliffs, passes above five thousand metres, silence and thin air. A completely different India — Buddhist, uncrowded, cool. The season is short, May to September.
Ayurveda and nature: Kerala
Backwaters, tea plantations, ayurvedic centres. People come for recovery programmes — a week or longer — and for greenery the north does not have. A calm rhythm, good food, less tourist bustle.
Temples and spiritual routes
Varanasi on the Ganges, Rishikesh with its yoga schools, the temple cities of Tamil Nadu. This is a trip for an experience that is hard to find anywhere else, not for comfort.
How much time to allow
- Goa — from 10 days, comfortable from two weeks
- The Golden Triangle — 7–10 days
- The Himalayas — from two weeks, allowing for acclimatisation
- Kerala — from 10 days, ayurvedic programmes from 14
An ordinary tourist visa covers any of these routes. If you plan several trips in a year, there are one-year and five-year visas. We will help you choose and arrange it.
